When you’re selecting a handbag, size is a very important factor to consider. An average-sized handbag– like this Fendi spy hobo bag– is perfect for everyday activities, like going to school, work, or the store. Large handbags– like this Fendi tote shopper’s bag– are more suitable for those days when you have a ton of stuff to carry… I tend to carry a large handbag when I go to the beach, for example. Small handbags and clutches should be used for formal events, such as parties (my favorite clutch of the moment is the Gucci Guccissima chain pouch). For more info, check out this video on choosing an appropriately-sized handbag.
Take a look at this Gucci “horse bit” shoulder bag. With its GG fabric, detailed shoulder strap, and shiny hardware, it’s definitely one of the hottest bags of the moment. I really love the equestrian influence, too. If you were carrying this bag, what would you wear with it? The options are endless!
That’s right, ladies and gents… get out your hot pink, lime green, and tangerine orange clothes, because neons are back! Style.com reports that the trendy colors for the upcoming season are “ultrabright.” So if you want to wear yellow, stick to lemon yellow; if you want to wear violet, stick to a medium purple shade; if you want to wear blue, stick to electric blue. I definitely plan on applying the neon trend to handbags. A bright bag would add a fabulous pop of color to any outfit. Check out this Juicy Couture green handbag, for example!
Today I read an article from the New York Times that discusses the physical injuries involved with carrying around an over-sized handbag. The author states that big, heavy handbags can lead to bad posture, poor balance, and aching backs, shoulders, necks, and hips. I do agree that a big handbag can get kind of uncomfortable– after all, the bigger the handbag is, the more stuff you can put in it, and the heavier it becomes. That doesn’t mean that I don’t own several over-sized bags though! :-D And for those times when I need something small and lightweight, I grab one of my clutches. The clutch you see here is from the wonderful Marc Jacobs.
Oh, Prada. You had me from the start. Just look at your supple leather, your fine craftsmanship, your daring details… It’s no wonder that Prada handbags are so popular! Fashionistas will love the new drawstring fringe tote– its style is classic and elegant, yet fresh and modern. I especially like the fringe embellishment and gold-colored hardware. And best of all: the bag is currently on clearance!
As someone who is not particularly fond of tassels, I have to confess– I love the new tassel bags by Gucci. The Gucci Indy hobo is absolutely gorgeous, with its soft suede and silvertone hardware. Equally as beautiful is the Gucci Peggy shoulder bag. Braided handles and a bamboo-detailed cinch closure make this bag stylish and sexy. I like these bags because the tassel detailing isn’t overpowering; it simply adds a unique, sophisticated element to each bag. And we all know that the quality of these bags is unmatched– it’s Gucci, after all!
The savings on this Fendi zucca hobo chef handbag are unbelievable. It retails at $600– but you can now get it for only $279! I absolutely love the gathered detailing and the leather-trimmed flap. The zucca pattern is printed in two gorgeous, rich shades of brown. And three options of trim color are available: red, pink, and blue. All of these color combinations are perfect for fall. This bag is definitely going on my list of this year’s favorites!

Want to get a head-start on fashion trends for spring 2008? Take a hint from Catherine Malandrino’s new collection. Catherine featured the colors of geranium red, tangerine orange, and olive green throughout her collection- an idea that was inspired by a town in southern France. A beautiful bright red or orange handbag looks good no matter what the season is, making the transition from fall to winter to spring effortless. Try this Marc Jacobs multi-pocket hobo or this Prada pushlock leather handbag for a shot of that gorgeous geranium color. For a burst of tantalizing tangerine, try this Mulberry darwin leather piccadilly shopper tote.
